How to convert a PNG to JPG

What happens to transparency
This is the one real catch when converting PNG to JPG: JPG cannot store transparency. Every transparent pixel has to become a solid color, and most converters silently pick white — which looks fine on a white page and leaves an obvious white box everywhere else. Set the fill color to match wherever the image will sit, and the seam disappears. If you genuinely need the transparency, don’t convert: keep the PNG, or use compression to reduce its size instead.

When to keep the PNG instead
JPG is the right delivery format for photographs, and the wrong one for almost everything else. Screenshots with text, logos, diagrams and flat-color graphics all rely on the crisp edges that JPG compression softens — and they often end up larger as JPG, because the format was built for gradients rather than sharp lines.
